Women tend to get pregnant in an attempt to formalize a casual relationship, hence we should see an increasing number of pregnancies in educated women. How explain the increasing number of educated women who are not reproducing with a DAD or anyone else, (i.e. not reproducing at all). Look at the graph of childlessness linked to above. It's not so analogous to new Jerusalem as to the ancient walled city of the crusaders. I could imagine the size of the footprints are comparable, given that Sulamein's walls encompass more area than the walls in the crusader period did.
Gareeth, your experience with Tony Attwood echoes another person I know who recently wrote about the very same thing. She knows Tony Attwood and was so upset with his presentation that she decided to email him telling him how upset she was. As I recall his response was not what one would have hoped. It’s incredible how a so called “autism expert” could be so callous and insensitive, although that description brings to mind another in the field who’s made quite a career for himself doing something similar and then turning any complaints around as evidence of a lack of theory of mind.

“Biscuit” literally means “cooked twice”.US “biscuits”, at least those I encountered in the South were, as Helen observed, like little scones, and definitely not cooked twice, unless you count an indeterminate period of time under a display case heat lamp as “cooking”.And then of course there is the famous Vietnam-era dish Frag Bolognaise.
